Sudokucup has celebrated its first birthday

Dear Friends, Sudoku Players and Fans,

The page hardly seems to have had its premiere a year ago. I think I can say that it was really a rich year and we did perfectly.

A little bit of balance:

SC1 - 328 players handed in (740 players lifted a password)
SC2 – 281 players handed in (521 players lifted a password)
In the survey there are these players who handed in at least 1 correct puzzle.

However, SC3 has broken our expectation and its participation is 50 % higher than at SC1 and 75 % higher than at SC2!
647 players has participated in SC3 and 484 out of them handed in at least one correct puzzle (several cheaters were left out). I feel that like advance and hope players will come back in the future.

You could solve 4 tournaments on our server (SC were three times and once it was an online GP) and players’ feedback was really excellent, speak nothing of the quality of players.

Looking back to my resolutions, we managed to add other 2 language versions as specified and for more we added a Portuguese version.

SudokuCup was twice a year, which is the shape that will be kept by our experiences. Some other authors have addressed me that they would have liked to prepare some following tournaments. So, a team competition is probably the only thing which wasn’t fulfilled. I hope it will be done some day; it is necessary to have some unfilled goals and dreams.

This server can’t work without the help of a lot of people who devoted their free time to the preparation and promotion.

I personally would like to wish this server (a-year-old baby) an influx of new sudoku players and loyalty of those who has found a way to us and maybe enjoy our work.

Thanks
First and foremost I must thank to my girlfriend Peťka who was finally not only a helper in re-solving or consultations but also in programming the pages at the so called eleventh hour :o). Mainly, she is a great support for me.
The puzzles were prepared, mentioned and pre-solved by: Nick Baxte, Martina and Tomáš Hanžl, Peter Hudák, Wei-Hwa Huang, Blanka Lehotská, Dan Marek, Anna Medveďová, Jan Pomikálek, and Petr Vejchoda.
Practice puzzles were resolved by: Jana Břízová, Štefan Gašpar, Jakub Hrazdíra, Raul Kačírek, Jakub Ondroušek, Ondra Suchý, Jana Tylová, and Lenka Vávrová.
Translations to other languages were done by: Zuzka Kačerovská, Minfang Lin 林敏舫, Carlita Manson, Frédéric Stalder, Lumír Witoszek, and Jana Zachová. I would also like to thank to our programmers and Aleš Marek who always knows what to do and thanks to him the pages work even there where I wouldn’t expected it.

I thank to a cameraman, director and producer (all in one) Radek Dufek who prepared for you the two wonderful videos:

And thanks to Kuba who outlived everything (that we made up).

My thanks go also to those who helped the competition come to the players’ awareness. Thank you – the members of the sudoku club Kabrňáci – for your help.

I hope I haven’t forgotten anybody and if so, please forgive me. The competition is created by a lot of kind and good people and I would like to thank all of you once more.

Thanks to authors
I’d like to emphasize the artistry of Honza (Krtek) Novotný and Thomas Snyder who prepared for you great sets of puzzles and lots of nice and pleasant moments at their solving.
Thank you.

I look forward to you at other competitions and if you liked that, do not hesitate and invite your friends to Facebook, Orkut or to our web pages to learn what is new.
