Team competition on SudokuCup
Dear players,
it's been a while since I've mentioned the possibility to prepare the Team Sudoku Competition here on SudokuCup page here.
I've thought a lot about it and here is my upgraded idea how to prepare it (first opinion was created by Ziti: http://sudokucup.com/node/3246).
The competition will be organized as football or hockey leagues. There will be 12 teams per league and each team will play against others within the group in the season.
In case that we will have more than 12 teams, we'll separate them into more leagues.
So then one season in the Team League will have 11 weeks.
One round of the Team competition will take 1 week. And each team will compete against other teams (the time schedule will be known from the beggining).
Team must play each puzzle from the Daily Sudoku League (7 classics, 7 variants) that week.
Team will have the oportunity to chose who will play which sudoku in the next week. This setting will be possible to change from Wednesday (0:00 AM) till Sunday (23:59 PM).
But there is a restriction about number of played games per week for each player. Player can compete at most in 5 games (4 games?) per week. So the team must have at least 3 players. The team can have the most 7 players.
So the weekly purpose of the team for selected game will be to win the game (be faster than player from the other team). There will be 14 possibilities to get points. In case that the game will be tied (both competitors will have the same solving time) both sides will have 0.5 points. If not then the winner will take 1 point and loser 0 points.
When the week is over the total score will be calculated for the whole team and compared with the opponent and the winner of the match will get 3 points to the Team League competition. In case that the match will be tied both sides will get 1 point. The team who will lose won't get any points. There will be also collected the overall score of the team and sum of played times.
The season's Team League result list will be sorted by:
- gathered points
- gathered over all score (sum of points of your team : sum of your opponents) - max. 14x11 = 154 : 0
- sum of played times

It's not possible from many reasons. Right now Daily Leauge is also on-line and it is not a problem.
There should be definitely the same conditions for both sides. And because this will be based on comparison of two players we'll also need the possibility to see player's record of the game.

2- How of the members of the teams will be chosen by whom?
3- Is it possible that the members could be weak and strong both together?

1) this competition will be on-line (sorry)
2) As I have already mentioned: I think that the best option is to let players to decide who they would like to have in their team.
3) Yes, it is just up to you how you decide to create the team. In case that there will be more than 12 teams it will be splited into leagues and after some first sorting round we'll have leagues sorted by quality. So something like 1st league, 2nd league etc. And there will be some predefined key how can teams be relegated from the last positions or move up from top position in lower league.

I think that the best option is to let players to decide who they would like to have in their team.
In case that you don't have enough friends you can use our Forum to try to find teamates to your new team
