The Sudokucup 2009 rules:

1. Participants

Sudokucup can be entered by all the players who are registered at www.sudokucup.com and who verify the agreement with the competition rules in their account.

2. The date and time of the competition

The competition will be open from 0:00:00 on January 17, 2009 (GMT + 1 hour) to 23:59:59 on January 17, 2009 (GMT + 1 hour). During the time period all registered players can lift the password necessary for opening PDF assignment file. The time of solution is 2 hours (120 minutes) from lifting the password. In the time limit you also have to enter the solution into the ready-made blank form (you can find it in the Sudokucup section – only for registered players).

3. Participants’ duties

The participants must solve the puzzles themselves. The help of other people, use of computers, use of calculators, use of solvers and other similar instruments are not allowed. Keep the Fair Play codes.

4. Results evaluation

Each puzzle has its own point classification. To get the points for particular puzzles it is necessary to enter the right answer – it means to enter the marked part of the solution into the ready-made blank form. In case the solution is incorrect, the participant will not obtain any points. Nevertheless no points are taken away. The answers can be sent repeatedly. In that case the last sent solution will be taken into account. The solution sent after the two-hour time limit from lifting the password will not be taken into account.

The answers can be sent by ready-made blank form. In this form there are always several input areas marked with Answer X (X is a number 1, 2. 3, etc). in the puzzles there are marked lines/columns or sectors (for the Ring puzzle) that are needed to send. These lines, columns or sectors are marked with the number and arrow. The number at the arrow is the same as the number of the answer in the form. See the example of needed answers:

The answer must be always written from the left to the right if you mark the line, from the top to the bottom if you mark the column and from the centre to the edge if you mark the sector! All the answers sent via the form during the two-hour limit for sending the results will be accepted.

Acquired points given for the correctly solved puzzles are crucial for the rank. In case of the same point classification there will be another criterion – the time in which the particular player sent the last correct solution.

5. The result publication

The results will be given with the name, surname and the country of origin of competitors with respect to the fact this is the Czech Republic Sudoku Championship 2009 preliminary. The players who did not enter their names, surnames and countries of origin while registered will not be included in the scoreboard. These players cannot take part in the Czech Republic Sudoku Championship 2009 preliminary. By entering the competition with giving the name, surname and the country of origin the competitors agree with the publishing of their data in the result scoreboard along with the competition results.

6. The preliminary

Sudokucup is the preliminary of the Czech Republic Sudoku Championship 2009 whereas 30 preliminary positions are reserved for this competition. Preliminary participation condition is giving the name, surname and the country of origin, for more the participant is obliged to tick the “I want to take part in the preliminary” box before lifting the password to access the assignment file. The players successful in the preliminary will be contacted immediately after the result publication via the email address given at the registration. In the email there will be the request of acknowledgment to participate in the Czech Republic Sudoku Championship 2009 and the request to state other necessary details required by the Czech Republic Sudoku Championship organizers. If the players do not acknowledge their participation or do not state the needed details in 5 days, the claim to participate in the Czech Republic Sudoku Championship from the Sudokucup 2009 preliminary will expire and the preliminary vacancy will be offered to the contiguous competitor.
