The Sudokucup 12 rules:
1. Participants
Sudokucup can be entered by all the players who are registered at www.sudokucup.com and who verify the agreement with the competition rules in their account (link to your account here)
2. The date and time of the competition
The competition will be open from 12:00:00 on October 17, 2014 (GMT + 2 hours) to 23:59:59 on October 20, 2014 (GMT + 2 hours). During the time period all registered players can lift the password necessary for opening PDF assignment file. The time of solution is 60 + 120 minutes for Sudoku competition or 90 minutes for Puzzle competition from lifting the password. In the time limit you also have to enter the solution into the ready-made blank form (you can find it here).
3. Participants’ duties
The participants must solve the puzzles themselves. The help of other people, use of computers, use of calculators, use of solvers and other similar instruments are not allowed. Keep the Fair Play codes.
4. Results evaluation
Each puzzle has its own point classification. To get the points for particular puzzles it is necessary to enter the right answer – it means to enter the marked part of the solution into the ready-made blank form. In case the solution is incorrect, the participant will not obtain any points. Nevertheless no points are taken away. The answers can be sent repeatedly. In that case the last sent solution will be taken into account. The solution sent after the two-hour time limit from lifting the password will not be taken into account.
Solvers who finish early will receive a time bonus worth an additional 4 points per minute remaining in sudoku competition and 11 points per minute remaining in puzzle competition, calculated to the second. To begin earning time bonus, solvers must click a "Claim Bonus" button that will confirm they are finished with the test and done checking puzzles.
Sometimes solvers claiming bonus may make a mistake on a puzzle entry. If, in the opinion of the competition judges, a solver has completed the test with all but 1 puzzle correct, and a typo or small mistake was made on that one puzzle, then that solver will receive 80% of the time bonus credit that they might have earned. However, the solver will not receive credit for the incorrect puzzle.
If a solver submits a 100% correct set of solutions, but fails to click 'Claim Bonus', the solver may begin to earn time bonus after five minutes have passed. This only applies to fully correct solutions and no partial bonus will be granted when 'Claim Bonus' is not clicked. All bonuses will be calculated based on the time the player clicks 'Claim Bonus', or 5 minutes after the last (and 100% correct) submission was made, whichever is earliest.
The answers can be sent by ready-made blank form. In this form there are always several input areas marked with Answer X (X is a number 1, 2. 3, etc). in the puzzles there are marked lines/columns that are needed to send. These lines, columns or sectors are marked with the number and arrow. The number at the arrow is the same as the number of the answer in the form. See the example of needed answers:
Answer 1: 351897642
Answer 2: 583674219
Answer 3: 196842357
The answer must be always written from the left to the right if you mark the line, from the top to the bottom if you mark the column! All the answers sent via the form during the two-hour limit for sending the results will be accepted.
Acquired points given for the correctly solved puzzles are crucial for the rank. In case of the same point classification there will be another criterion – the time in which the particular player sent the last correct solution.
The point classification of the puzzles is as follows:
5. The result publication
The players who did not enter their names, surnames and countries of origin while registered will not be included in the scoreboard. By entering the competition with giving the name, surname and the country of origin the competitors agree with the publishing of their data in the result scoreboard along with the competition results.
